International Liberal recognizes the Catalan nation

The Secretary General of the organization calls on Spanish and Catalan parties' willingness to respect the Catalan people’s decision 

The Secretary General of the International Liberals, the world federation of liberal parties, the Macedonian Kirjas Emil believes that "there is no sense" that the Spanish Constitutional Court tombs the Statute of Catalonia approved in a referendum by Catalan people. "The International Liberals gives full support to the existence of the Catalan nation and the need that Catalan language be recognized." Therefore, Kirjas celebrates that more than one million people took to the streets to assert their rights on July 10 . For over two decades, this has been the largest expression for the right to self-determination not only in Europe, but I would dare to say, all over the world" he said.

The Secretary General of the Federation of liberal parties worldwide, the organization in which Convergencia i Unió (CiU) forms part of, has asked the political parties from Catalonia and Spain to comply with their responsibilities in order to ensure that it fulfills the will of the people of Catalonia.

"We will give our support to our fellow Catalan Parliament, the European Commission and there where necessary," said Kirjas, who considered "alarming" the fact that the Spanish Constitutional Court has cut the Catalonian Statute after being accepted by Catalonians on Referendum. Glavni tajnik Liberalne internacionale, svjetske federacije liberalnih stranaka, makedonac Kirjas Emil smatra da "nema smisla" da Ustavni sud ponisti odredbe Statuta Katalonije koji je izglasan na referendumu. Liberalna internacionala daje punu potporu postojanju katalonske nacije i potrebi da  Katalonija bude priznata.  Stoga Kirjas odobrava sto je na ulice 10. srpnja izaslo više od milijun ljudi kako bi obranilo svoja prava. U proteklih više od dva desetljeća, to je najveći izraz za pravo na samoopredjeljenje u Europi, i usuđujem se reći, u cijelom svijetu," izjavio je.

Glavni tajnik saveza liberalih stranaka u svijetu, organizacija kojoj pripada i Convergència i Unió, zatražio je od stranaka kako drzave spanjolske tako i iz Katalonije da preuzmu svoje odgovornosti kako bi se osiguralo ispunjenje volje katalonskog naroda.

Dati cemo podršku našim katalonskim kolegama u Europskom parlamentu, u Europskoj komisiji i tamo gdje je to potrebno ", rekao je Kirjas, koji smatra "alarmantnom" činjenicu da je Ustavni sud srezao katalonski Statut. Predstavnik liberala zadivljen je mnostvom ljudi koji su se manifestirali na Setalistu Gracia 10. srpnja, i smatra pohvalnim masovni izlazak na ulicu katalonskog naroda kako bi “zahtijevao poštovanje".

El secretari general de la Internacional Liberal -la federació mundial de partits liberals-, el macedoni Emil Kirjas, considera que “no té sentit” que el Tribunal Constitucional tombés l'Estatut de Catalunya que es va aprovar en referèndum. “La Internacional Liboral dona ple suport a l'existència de la nació catalana i la necessitat que el català sigui reconegut". Per això, Kirjas celebra que més d'un milió de persones sortissin al carrer per reivindicar els seus drets el 10 de juliol. “Durant més de dues dècades, aquesta ha estat l'expressió més gran per al dret a l'autodeterminació d'Europa, i m'atreviria a dir de tot el món”, ha dit.

El secretari general de la federació mundial de partits liberals, organització de la qual forma part Convergència i Unió, ha demanat als partits catalans i de l'estat espanyol que prenguin les seves responsabilitats per aconseguir que es compleixi la voluntat del poble de Catalunya.

“Donarem el nostre suport als nostres companys catalans al Parlament Europeu, a la Comissió Europea i allà on faci falta”, ha dit Kirjas, qui considera “alarmant” el fet que el TC hagi retallat un Estatut. El liberal, meravellat per la multitud de persones que va manifestar-se al passeig de Gràcia el 10 de juliol, troba lloable que el poble de Catalunya sortís al carrer per “demanar respecte”.
